Who is Kim Breytenbach?

I come from Benoni which is in Gauteng, South Africa.  Benoni is a city where some very famous people come from, so there is still hope for me! I moved to Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal about 20 years ago and now call it home.  I have been passionate about photography for a as long as I can remember and have now moved from hobbyist to professional.

What my site is all about

Some interesting information gathered from my friends and family

Some of my friends see me as a fun filled, free spirited, high energy and adventurous person with a love of life and desire to live it to its fullest.  I have been called an adrenalin junkie as I live for rock climbing.  Rock climbing trains you to focus on the situation you are in at that moment.

My love of flying comes from my Grandfather who was a pilot.  I have flown in helicopters, microlights and fixed wing aircraft, many of which I have photographed.  Being part of a Mountain Search and Rescue team gives me an opportunity to fly in helicopters.

My other interests are hiking and diving, although I’m not really too involved in those right now.

Photo sessions and images

My images are available for purchasing.  Not all my images are on my site, but we can communicate and see if I have a particular image that you are looking for.  This is only a very small portion of what I have on offer, just to whet your appetite and encourage you to come back for more.

I enjoy doing and offer photo sessions for families, new born babies, children and pets.

I also offer creative photographs of machinery, workshops, engineering workshops, car show rooms and equipment.

“How did Sunbird Photography become Sunbird Photography?” I hear you ask.  Simply put … Kim Breytenbach Photography just sounded flat.  I love sunbirds as they are vibrant in colour, full of life, never still, small, dainty and precise.  The daffodil which is also part of my logo is the Welsh National Flower, and having Welsh blood in my veins, I felt what better way to portray my heritage.  So, with a Sunbird, a Daffodil and my photography passion  Sunbird Photography  took flight.

I want to show you the world as I see it through my camera lenses.  (This is the quote for my website.)    I would like to share with you some of the places I have visited and photographed.  These photographs form a wide range of disciplines, which are all available in my photo album.  A few of the places I have visited are Kgalagadi Transfronteir Park, Witsand, Cape Town, Durban, and Kruger National Park.  I will be offering trips to these places in due course, so watch my events page for updates on these trips.
